Dress up is a crucial part of any childhood. Pretending to be a princess in a far away land living in a glorious castle or a pirate sailing the stormy seas searching for golden treasure. Or my favorite..A Super Hero jumping & flying or using an invisible cloak to save the world.
Dress up and pretend play help a child’s imagination grow. Children learn empathy by putting themselves in the lives of others, even for just a moment. Not to mention the growth of fine & gross motor skills. Pretend play is much more than just pretend play.
Part of becoming a super hero is having special cuffs. My daughter pretends that the cuffs hold special strengths or help her complete certain tasks. I came up with these easy to make Super Hero Cuffs to help encourage her super strength. Not only were these cuffs incredibly inexpensive but super easy as well. We completed the project from start to finish and had her wearing her cuffs in matter of minutes.
Supplies Needed For DIY Super Hero Cuffs
How To Make DIY Super Hero Cuffs:
- Cut toilet paper rolls down one side.
- Cover toilet paper rolls with construction paper using glue stick.
- Cut out embellishment from glitter foam (we chose stars) and glue on.
- Let dry for 3-5 minutes.
- Put on child’s wrists.
- Watch child become a super hero.
It’s magical really. I get a such a sense of accomplishment with projects such as these. To know that something as simple as construction paper covered toilet paper rolls with glittery stars glued on can make my daughters whole afternoon. I had all of the supplies needed at home and it only took maybe 5 minutes to make.
One point for mom!
I hope you try this with your little super heroes! And comment to let me know what dress up ideas you and your little princesses & pirates do at your house! We’d love some more ideas.
