Kid Made Gift - DIY Coaster Set. Functional and Sentimental Gift. Made By Kids. Play Dough & Popsicles

The last couple years I have been making as many gifts as I can. It’s fun for me but also means more to the people who are receiving the gifts. The same goes for my daughter. Her grandparents, aunts & uncle, and us, her parents, love her hand made gifts. She once took a card from a kids card game and wrapped a couple pieces of washi tape around it. I have had that thing in my wallet since the day she made it. It’s simple and outsiders would be completely confused as to it’s purpose, but I love it.

The first couple years of her life, we made foot and hand print pictures on canvases. Now, though, grandparent’s walls are covered in hand and foot print canvas pictures. I am sure that they love every one, BUT I think it would be nice to get something different.

That’s why these d.i.y Colored Coasters are so perfect.

They are made by my daughter for family members but they also have purpose and function.
And you know what else, they cost PENNIES to make! They are so simple to make, my daughter pretty much made them all on her own, with supervision and guidance, but basically on her own!

Supplies Needed:

4.25 x 4.25 White Tiles
Modge Podge
White Card stock
Scissors
Crayons/Markers/Paint
Sponge Paint Brush

How To:

{Step One}: Cut card stock into 4×4 square. One for each coaster being made.
{Step Two}: Have child color or paint on it. Make sure it is completely dry before continuing.
{Step Three}: Using sponge paint brush, paint a layer of modge podge onto top of coaster.
{Step Four}: Place card stock square onto top of coaster. Press down firmly, make sure to spread out any bubbles.
{Step Five}: Let dry for 1-2 minutes.
{Step Six}: With sponge paint brush, paint on a layer of modge podge in each direction.
{Step Seven}: Cover entire piece of card stock as well as edges of tile. Let dry.
{Step Eight}: Add second coat of modge podge. Let dry completely.

I used toole and ribbon to wrap a stack of coasters. Place a label on the ribbon. & Done.
