St. Patrick’s Day has never been one that I was super stoked for, as a child. I wore green and it gave our teachers a reason to throw us a classroom party, but that is about where it ended. Now that I am a mom, I have this desire to make crafts and decorate for every holiday on the calendar. One of our St. Patrick’s Day craft this year is this Paper Plate Pot of Gold & Hand Print Rainbow. Of course it is a paper plate craft, we love paper plate crafts!
Supplies Needed for Paper Plate Pot of Gold & Hand Print Rainbow Craft
How We Made Ours:
I started with the paper plate. I cut half of the center out. It was a little more difficult than I had expected. If you have a craft knife, use that! I assume that would be so much easier. It’s not like it was hard to cut it out, it got done, but it just wasn’t quite as easy as I had expected.
After cutting the paper plate, we painted it black. While that was drying we started on the rainbow.
I traced my daughter’s hand on one piece of construction paper. I cut that out and used that as the stencil for the rest of the colors.
Using the remainder of the yellow, I cut out some circles for the GOLD.
Using the remainder of the green, I cut out two clovers.
My daughter used the glue stick to complete the rest of the craft. She glued the hands together, the gold pieces to the back of the paper plate, the clovers on the front of the pot, and glued the rainbow to the back of the plate.
It was super simple and we will hang it up as a St. Pat’s Decoration as soon as Valentine’s Day is over. My goal is to always have the next holiday’s decorations up, without being too overwhelming.
