Our summer has been amazing. We have had so much fun playing outside, swimming, going on bike rides and going on random adventures. That summer fun is quickly coming to a harsh end = school is about to start. It’s preschool, so it’s not as intense as if she was starting Kindergarten, but it’s still something new. It’s still going to take up some of our days and bedtime will be much earlier. We only have 20 days left, so we made this fun Back To School Countdown Chain to help us stay on track.
Is the chain for me or for my daughter? She enjoys pulling off the chain each day, while I cringe. My little baby is 4 1/2. She was just a little baby, cuddling in my arms and wrapping her fingers around mine. Now she’s spreading her wings and flying off to school. It is bittersweet. I love watching the girl she is becoming, but I miss my little baby.
How We Made Our Back To School Countdown Chain
We made this countdown chain using construction paper, scissors, and glue stick. I drew the apples, bus, letters and numbers and cut them out. At the same time, my daughter was cutting the strips to make the chain with. We glued the pieces onto a white piece of card stock.
Together we made the chain and connected it to the card stock.
It’s so fun to see her excitement, anticipation, and slight anxiety towards going to school for the first time. I am dreading dropping her off on the first day, but I can not wait to hear how her day went when she’s done!
Do you have any back to school traditions?
