Last week my daughter was sick. Ear infection & Sinus infection that led to stuffy nose, coughing, and a super sleepy little girl. I knew that a bath with essential oils was exactly what she needed to feel a little better, to clear out her sinuses so she could sleep. She was feeling so bad, though, that she didn’t want to take a bath. She would sit in there for just a few minutes and want to get out. I knew she needed more time in the bath for it to really benefit her. That is how this bath paint was created.
Scented Vibrant Bath Paint:
We have made bath paint a few times before. Once with real kids paint and other time for sensitive skin. This time we made it a different way. I hadn’t planned for this so it was spur of the moment with ingredients that we had on hand.
How We Made It:
I used a container with different sections in it so that the colors wouldn’t mix. It doesn’t really matter what you put it in though.
In each section I added equal parts of corn starch and body wash. Mix it together well. It should be thick but thinner than a putty.. like paint really.
Then I added two drops of each color of the gel food coloring. Mix it together well. And side note..it’s amazing how two drops of this gel food coloring can make such vibrant colors. It’s the first time we have used the gel type and I am sold. it is worth every extra penny!
Next I added a drop of both essential oils to each color. It was almost too much essential oil, so maybe not every color needs one. Stir it up really well.
When it’s all mixed, it’s time to take it to the bath and paint.
Easy right? Yep!
The color didn’t stain the bath tub or my daughter’s skin, so I was super happy about that.
The essential oils in the paint helped to spread them through the air and give extra way to breath it in.
I knew the essential oils in the bath would help her if she just stayed in the bath long enough for them to start working and the paint is what kept her in the bath!
